IGN, The National Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information in France, has a mission of support to implement the INSPIRE directive on the French territory. What it means in practice is that they help French regions to meet the INSPIRE requirements for metadata and web services for spatial data. This mission is set by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Environment and Energy.
IGN uses Spatineo Monitor to report on the availability of the region’s spatial web services as well as their compliance with the OGC and INSPIRE requirements. Spatineo Performance is used to test the performance of the services and to ensure their compliance with the INSPIRE capacity requirements. IGN reports to the French regions highlighting their strengths and areas of improvement.
