D.Sc. (Tech.) Jaana Mäkelä is starting at Spatineo as a service director during February-March. Dr. Mäkelä completed her doctor thesis at the Aalto University at the end of 2013 on organizational maturity model for utilization of spatial information. She has worked in the field of spatial data and spatial systems for over 30 years. Her previous positions include development and project management duties at SITO, expert and management positions at Geodata, Director of spatial data solutions unit at Genimap and the last few years lecturer, researcher and PhD student at the Aalto University. In addition Dr. Mäkelä has tens of publications in the field of spatial data.
At Spatineo Dr. Mäkelä is responsible for customer relations, services and sales in Finland. In addition she will be responsible for business development based on the maturity model for spatial information. With this recruitment Spatineo is adding to its’ service portfolio consultancy and surveys based on the scientific maturity model for spatial information. This is an excellent and logical extension to Spatineo’s quality assurance services for spatial services and strengthens Spatineo’s position as an independent provider of systematic evaluation, development and quality assurance services for spatial information and spatial services.
