New Employee Mikko Ehnqvist

Hi! My name is Mikko, and I joined Spatineo in the spring of 2024.

Transitioning to this innovative Finnish software company from a 20-year career in sales—most recently in the music industry and international business—has been an adventure. My experience in global sales, particularly in the Nordics and Baltics, has prepared me to bring a fresh perspective to Spatineo as we work to expand our reach and grow our global presence.

From my first day, I’ve been surrounded by a team of talented and enthusiastic colleagues who are deeply passionate about geospatial technology. Something I had not heard before, and now I’m a big fan of it!

First Year impressions

One of the exciting milestones for me was the launch of our Capacity Map, a groundbreaking tool designed for electricity network companies. It empowers businesses with more intelligent resource planning and optimisation. As someone who’s had the privilege of introducing this product to new markets, including the Baltics and Poland, it’s been and will continue to be super-exiting.

Did you know Spatineo has the largest geospatial service database in the world? We’ve been crawling every open source globally since 2011, making us the “Google of geospatial service data.” How wild is that!?

This unparalleled resource has allowed us to focus on addressing rising security concerns and unlocking potential within the geospatial world. Knowing we have the tools and knowledge to ensure reliable and secure geospatial services for our customers is, to a salesperson, damn cool.

Sometimes, our work is so impactful and sensitive that all I can say is, “I would like to tell more about my customers and collaborations, but I can’t.” That realisation reaffirms that we are precisely where we should be.

What else

Oh, and a few other things about me: I do music—a lot. I play guitar in a few bands, collaborate with artists, and spend too much time thinking about music gear (probably to an unhealthy degree). I love jumping on my Triumph motorcycle in the summertime and riding through southwest Finland’s stunning archipelago. There’s nothing quite like the nightless nights paired with Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” as the soundtrack.

Here’s to a bright and promising 2025!
